BRR!! I never thought I would see the day that I would want to get away from the cold. This snow in Boulder has dropped the temperature in my house to below 60 and I am freezing! If you are feeling the cold of the winter coming, this is the perfect recipe for you. I saw a recipe for zucchini cheese soup a while back on Cinnamon Girl Recipes and was so excited to find another clever way to use up my zucchini.
Finally, to the cooking part of my cooking trip! We headed to a small town called Spongano the morning after our welcome dinner in Lecce. This is where the castle was located. Some people may call this a manor house, but call it what you want. There were like 20 bedrooms and bathrooms and an awesome pool and a garden filled with all sorts of fruit trees… I’d call that a castle. (Also, thanks to my mom, the host of the trip, for most of these photos! I was too preoccupied to take pictures most of the week. If you think you would like to go on this trip next time she takes people, check out her site here!)
Sorry it has taken me so long to post the next part of my trip, apparently leaving school and work for two weeks causes chaos when you return. I’ll take it though. After taking the six-hour train ride, and sleeping for the entire thing, we ended up in Lecce. The Awaiting Table and Silvestro’s house are located in Lecce, but we got to stay at the castle instead since we had such a large group. We did a short tour of the town, then headed over for a welcome dinner at the school. I had never really thought about what I would want my kitchen to look like when I have my own, until I saw this place.
Wow has a month seriously already passed since the last Secret Recipe Club reveal day?! I guess time flies when you’re having fun right? Between school, work and a trip to Italy, I somehow managed to still get my recipe made for this month’s Secret Recipe Club. I can also say that I am very happy I did because I found so many good recipes on my assigned blog this month, Angela’s Kitchen.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehowRead More
The GoodWill near my house recently had a half off sale. I know that seems ridiculous since everything is already priced so low, but it mean shopping time for me! It was like Christmas going through their kitchen section. There were so many cute accessories and dishes for my food photos. I came out with multiple textured mats, plates, bowls, silverware and more all for only $14! This picture shows a few of my new accessories. I love the textures in this photo even though the colors are a bit off.
Finally, I have a free moment to tell you about my first trip to Italy! I kind of had an idea of what to expect from seeing photos and hearing stories, but nothing compares to actually experiencing it yourself. After having my flight to D.C. cancelled (thanks so much United) and spending an extra night in D.C., I finally made it to Rome a day later than my mom and the rest of the group.
Sorry I have not been posting this week as much, but I have been in Italy at cooking school! I will be posting all about my trip soon, since I am sadly heading home tomorrow. For now, head over to my mom’s blog to read about our trip. Who knows, maybe you will want toRead More
