Month: December 2011
This week has been a nice break from the Holidays, but tomorrow it all starts again. I was able to head up to the mountains and spend my last two days snowboarding until next season. I wish Colorado had some better snow for me before I leave, but that’s alright, I’ll take it. I showed up to my friend’s house with all sorts of leftovers for the boys; they were stoked. With New Years Eve tomorrow, I am sure many of you will be baking up a storm. Lucky you, I have Katie from Oh Shine On here today with a delicious cheesecake recipe for all of you! Katie’s story of how she got her shine back is one that you MUST read, really inspirational! With that I give you Katie:
Gingersnap Cookies & Cream Cheesecake
Just incase you didn’t know, the holidays are definitely not the right time to try to get in shape for the beach… But it was worth every bite. It was so great to see my brother, who lives in NYC now, and my cousins who I haven’t seen in years. We had a brunch with my dad’s side of the family on Christmas Eve and dinner with my mom’s side of the family on Christmas Day. Lucky for me, my mom is a great cook so I got to sit back and relax for most of it, except I couldn’t stop myself from making these amazing cupcakes for dessert. Sorry for posting two cupcake recipes in a row, but I had to share these before your New Years healthy eating kicked in! =)
I am not sure what all of your new years resolutions are, but I hope they don’t involve cutting out sweets because I have so many delicious sweet recipes to post in the next couple of weeks! If you are taking the bold step and trying to cut out sweets, I will have plenty of healthier recipes coming up too, so you are safe but I would still encourage you to try to the sweets!
Can you believe that it is almost Christmas?! What are your plans for the holidays? I will be spending Christmas in Denver with parents, brothers and a few other relatives. I am really excited about this Christmas because I hardly get to see my brothers any more, plus I will be moving far, far away in exactly two weeks from today. I hope that the holidays haven’t stressed you out, but if you are panicking about what you are going to cook for dinner with your family this guest post is perfect for you. I would like to welcome Denise from Dinner With Denise this friday. She is sharing one of her delicious side dishes for the holidays. This is a great alternative to the typical sweet potatoes and marshmallows if you feel like you always serve that dish during the holidays. With that, I give you Denise:
Sweet Potato & Apple Casserole w/ Pecan Crunch Topping
A few months ago I entered the Pillsbury bake-off challenge. Quite a bit of time has passed and I haven’t heard anything, I am assuming that my recipe did not make the cut. I didn’t share my recipe originally because I had high hopes that I would make finals, but obviously I was wrong..haha. Luckily, I know that my recipe was delicious and now I can share it with all of you to make at home. I would also like to let Pillsbury know that they are missing out!
First off, I want to say THANK YOU to all of your comments about my graduation! I am so excited for everything to come!
I’ve recently realized how much my foodie personality has overpowered my 21-year-old party personality. For my 21st birthday I did not go to Vegas like most kids would; instead, I went to San Francisco with my parents and ate at delicious restaurants for three days straight. Then, last week after my graduation, I didn’t go out partying with my friends; instead, I went to the restaurant that was rated #1 in Colorado by 5280 magazine, Frasca… again, with my parents… Personally, I would much rather celebrate a special occasion with good food than with a night of drinking. Let’s be honest, as a 21-year-old, you don’t need a special occasion to drink.
Happy Friday everyone! I would like to announce that I am officially a college graduate! Since I graduated in the fall (a semester early!) the ceremony was very small, which was nice. I only knew one girl graduating with me, but I also had the chance to talk to my professor who inspired me to create this blog. We can all thank Mindy for the creation and continuance of Savour the Senses! But back on topic, Friday means time to featured another fellow foodie. This week we have Kiri from Healthy Foodie Travels with a simple, healthy recipe for you all. With that, I give you Kiri:
Chinese Chilled Soy-Glazed Asparagus and Shrimp w/ Warm Tomato Sauce
Today is, yet again, the reveal day for Secret Recipe Club! I have been up to my ears trying to finish up school and get everything together to graduate while also preparing for my move to Hawaii in January. Needless to say I have hardly had any time to cook or come up with new recipes of my own. Luckily, Secret Recipe Club gave me a great blog this month to browse, which led me to a new festive recipe for the holidays.
