It is Friday, the weekend right?! For me, that doesn’t mean relaxing, far from. It means two crazy nights at work. I have been working mostly nights at Morimoto Waikiki, with the exception of a couple morning shift this week. It amazes me the difference in the type of shift I have when I work a lunch versus a night. Lunch shifts at Morimoto are mostly about setting up and prepping out food. Night shift are about putting out food, and lots of it. I am excited to be working nights after working lunches all fall at SALT, but it is a pretty crazy experience. Morimoto is a high-volume fine dining restaurant, which means go time all the time at night. The good thing is, I am LOVING it! The kitchen at Morimoto runs much more smoothly than my last job, which makes busy nights feel less chaotic. I love the excitement of the kitchen at night, not to mention the fact that time flies by when you are busy. What are your weekend plans? If you have some free time I have just the recipe for you. I am not sure what all of your new years resolutions are, but I hope they don’t involve cutting out sweets because I have so many delicious sweet recipes to post in the next couple of weeks! If you are taking the bold step and trying to cut out sweets, I will have plenty of healthier recipes coming up too, so you are safe but I would still encourage you to try to the sweets!
A few months ago I entered the Pillsbury bake-off challenge. Quite a bit of time has passed and I haven’t heard anything, I am assuming that my recipe did not make the cut. I didn’t share my recipe originally because I had high hopes that I would make finals, but obviously I was wrong..haha. Luckily, I know that my recipe was delicious and now I can share it with all of you to make at home. I would also like to let Pillsbury know that they are missing out!
Last weekend, we went to San Francisco for my 21st birthday (restaurant reviews coming soon!); it was a blast! The only problem before leaving was that I didn’t own “city-type” clothes. I had to go buy a few new tops that would be club worthy. The first place I passed as I walked into the mall was Cinnabon. The smell that comes from that place makes you melt immediately as you walk in. It always takes everything I have not to stop and get one! I don’t know what it is about cinnamon buns but they are just so addicting.
Cooking fancy breakfasts for friends is always a ton of fun for me, but I don’t get to do it often. Usually, when a large group of friends end up spending the night at the same place, breakfast doesn’t get made for everybody for one of three reasons; 1- they wake up with the thought “Man I need to go home”, 2- nobody is in the mood to cook, or 3- you don’t have the ingredients or kitchen to use. If you are not a twenty-something year old you probably hardly ever wake up in a random friend’s house. This means planning a breakfast party if you ever want to have a big breakfast with friends, which for some reason just doesn’t happen as often in our busy lives. I am happy that I was able to cook these delicious crepes for a group, rather than just myself! These are also the perfect idea for a Father’s Day surprise!

Since I began blogging, less than a year ago, I have been following a blog called EFC Cooking on Tumblr. It is a great blog for East, Fast and Cheap recipes for any occasion. This past fall I stumbled across this recipe on the EFC blog.
These muffins are so simple, but so addicting. They are really just plain muffins dipped in butter and cinnamon sugar, but what could be better than butter and cinnamon sugar?! These are a quick way to become everybody’s new best friend at a party or hang out.
It is always nice to have hot cocoa on a snowy day, but sometimes the chocolate is just too much. Spiced cider is another holiday drink that is easy to make, but is less filling than hot chocolate. This recipe is kind of a cheater recipe, considering that I didn’t actually make the cider myself, but it makes a great drink for holiday parties. Add a little bit of spiced rum to the cider and you are ready to go!
