For all you fellow food bloggers out there, Yummly has created a new recipe widget! I used to use EasyRecipe, but the new Yummly plug-in is SO MUCH BETTER! It is free to install, too. The new plug-in enables people to “yum” your recipe directly from your site. If you are not familiar with Yummly, it is a recipe sharing site that allows you to save recipes and search based on personal preferences. Check out my publisher page if you are not familiar.
This is a very overdue post, sorry for the delay! I finally had a Sunday to lounge on my couch and update you all on my culinary school adventures at Escoffier. We just finished midterms last week. For the practical, we had to fabricate a whole chicken, then prepare two plates of seared chicken breast, potato puree and seasonal vegetable with a veloute, as well as a green salad with a vinaigrette dressing. I chose to French my chicken breasts, which is when you leave in the drummette and clean the bone, as well as slice my chicken to plate, which most other students didn’t. I prepared an herbed honey balsamic vinaigrette for my dressing. I got a 98% on my practical and a 99% on my written, not to shabby!
It’s interesting to me how the beginning of the new year can influence us so much. The new year always has me reminiscing of the past year, assessing my life and goals, and trying to plan for my future; and now looking back at my blogging from the year before. I don’t usually make it a point to make new years resolutions because how many of us actually follow through with them? Last year my new years resolution was to cut back on eating processed and refined sugars… until I found out that (supposedly) agave nectar is really hard for your body to process, which meant I really wasn’t doing much good for my body by substituting it for sugar.
