Detox Green Machine Soup
I got rained on for the first time the other day riding my bike to the beach. Definitely the first of many I think. I guess there are prices to pay when you live in Paradise! I only have a bike, so I ride it everywhere, including to and from work. Luckily I work in a kitchen with a bunch of sweaty guys anyway so it is OK that I show up drenched in sweat… Riding my bike has been a great workout for me though! I forces me to workout, which is perfect for my type of personality… 🙂 I know if that is not your case, it can be hard to find time or motivation to workout, I had the same problem. Beer Batter Tempura Vegetables
Along with the chips and salsa for my Foodbuzz 24×24, I made beer battered veggies tempura as an appetizer. Beer batters are great because the carbonation in the beer makes the batter puff up more when frying, which gives the veggies a fuller crunch. For these, I chose to use Modelo beer to keep the Mexican-type theme for the party. I fried asparagus, green beans, poblano peppers and zucchini (one of the first from our garden!). These are great served with guacamole or ranch dressing to dip.
Green Bean Casserole
To go with the Trailer Trash Pot Roast, I made a green bean casserole for our holiday dinner. This recipe (from AllRecipes) is a little different than others because it uses sour cream instead of mushroom or onion soup. I think the sour cream adds great flavor. I will definitely be using this recipe from now on. Green bean casserole is another good holiday dish because you can easily increase the recipe for a large group.
