Strawberry Vodka Mojitos
There are few things better than coming home from a long day at work, making a delicious cocktail and sitting out on the porch. With our short summers up here, I try to take advantage of the sunny afternoons as much as possible. With a view like this, who wouldn’t!?
30 Days of Holiday Recipes
The holidays are just around the corner; what will you be making? For those of you who are not sure, I’ve compiled a list of my top 30 favorite holiday recipes. There are some sweet, some savory, some for the early morning and some for late night. Enjoy!
Morning Boost Juice
It is finally beginning to feel like summer in the mountains! My heirloom tomato plants have little baby tomatoes finally and the rest of my plants are growing like crazy. I can’t wait to be able to put them outside and plant my outdoor garden. We’ve also been getting awesome organic boxes from Door to Door Organics, filled with delicious fruits and vegetables- perfect for juicing materials.
Sage Herbal Tea
While dogsitting for my parents in Denver, I noticed that my mom had a ton of sage still on her sage bush from last summer. My boyfriend and I thought it would be a great idea to make some sage bundles to burn. After making four large bundles, we still had so much left over! Since sage has so many great health properties, we decided to make a sage herbal tea.
Featured Foodie Friday: Chef Dennis
Have no fear, this Friday the 13th is your lucky day. Why? Because we have an AWESOME guest blogger here today with an amazing recipe for Featured Foodie Friday, Chef Dennis. If you missed it, I guest posted for him a while back with my Potato Gnocchi w/ Jerk Chicken on Green Pea Puree recipe. If you are not already following his blog, you need to. He is full of great advice and wonderful recipes.
As for this cake? For all of you who are stuck in rainy/snowy/cold/cloudy weather or didn’t get the chance to take a vacation this spring break, this cake is your way to indulge and transport yourself here with me in Hawaii. I do have to admit, I had indulged in my first Pina Colada since being here last week and it has me wanting to bake this cake ASAP.
Pina Colada Cake
Detox Cran-Blueberry Banana Fruit Smoothie
I don’t necessarily think that New Years means that you HAVE to immediately start dieting, but I feel like it is a good time to start out fresh. I like to refine my eating and exercising habits after the holiday bingeing is over. I recently did a cleanse to start out fresh before my move. One key component to a cleanse is flushing out your system and getting detoxifying nutrients, which makes this smoothie perfect for a cleanse.
Foodbuzz 24×24: Hot Summer Daze Party
The day has finally come! I have been waiting to throw my Foodbuzz 24×24 party all month and it finally happened. The 24×24 is a special event where Foodbuzz picks 24 featured publishers to throw 24 over-the-top dinner parties in the same 24 hour period. My themed party was called Hot Summer Daze.
Orange Mint Hibiscus Mojitos
To kick off our Foodbuzz 24×24 party we made mojitos and margaritas, We began by making an agave hibiscus simple syrup by boiling down hibiscus leaves with agave nectar. Once we had our syrup, it was time to make mojitos. We are lucky enough to have our own orange mint plant in our garden this year, but if you cannot find orange mint regular mint works as well. These mojitos are very unique, the hibiscus flowers give them a great pink color and a hint of floral flavor; very refreshing on a hot summer day.
Pineapple Basil Margaritas
For my Foodbuzz 24×24 party, we also made pineapple basil margaritas with fresh basil from our garden. These margaritas are sweeter than your average and don’t have that sour lime taste that sometimes comes with others. The basil adds a nice earthy kick to balance the sweetness. I can safely say that these margaritas are the best that I have ever had. I highly recommend you try both this and the orange mint hibiscus mojito recipes and wow your company with them!
A Pairing Party w/ Swiss Maid Fudge
When I first began blogging, I didn’t really know what I would put on my blog or where it would take me. Actually, I was forced (well maybe required is a better word) to make a blog for my advertising media class last fall and figured I love food, music, photos, etc. so why not focus on my senses. Almost a year later I am at a point that I would have never imagined. I am completely submerged in the blogging universe and loving it! When I tell people that I am a blogger they are always a little uneasy, but then when I tell them I am a FOOD blogger they always seem so intrigued. I am so excited about all of the opportunities I have been given because of my blog, although I must say that the next few weeks are kind of filled with different blogging opportunites, I hope you enjoy them too!
