Clementine {Orange} Chicken
Our new Whole Foods has been open for a few weeks now and it is awesome. I am so excited to be working such a great company, plus it is so nice to finally have good food available to us up in the mountains! The only downside is that I am tempted to buy everything, every time I work. Although I think I am going to need to pace myself when it comes to buying things from work.

Chicken Green Curry {Kaeng Kiao Waan Gai}
Colorado has been getting hit with lots of snow and cold weather recently, which has been making me crave hearty food. This classic Thai dish is hearty but healthy! Perfect for cold snowy days in Colorado or warm sunny days in Thailand. If you are feeling adventurous you can make your own green curry paste from my previous post here, if not you can purchase green curry paste from most stores. This recipe is the classic style for Thai Green Curry, but you can switch it up with whatever veggies or meat you desire.

New York Restaurants: Ma Peche
Wow, they weren’t kidding when they said time flies when you’re having fun! I can’t believe that I am already finished with culinary school. It seems like we only started last week! Not only am I done with school, I am done with Colorado… for now. I am officially a New Yorker, except with hippie dresses and no accent… =)
Asian Spiced Cucumbers
HELLO WORLD! I am officially back in Boulder. I moved into an apartment all alone (my first time EVER living alone). It definitely has it’s ups and downs, but I am getting used to it. I started school this week at Escoffier too! The first week is all ServSafe, which is health and sanitation, so it is kind of boring; but next week we get started in the kitchens!
Hawaii Living & Life in a Restaurant Kitchen
Can you believe that I have already been living in Hawaii for 6 months! You might be saying, “Yes actually I can because you have fallen off the face of the web only to periodically brag to us about your awesome time there.” Ok, ok you are right- BUT, I am moving back to home sweet home in a little over a month to go to Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in none other than Boulder, Colorado (the town I went to college in AND the town named the #1 Foodiest Town in America by Bon Appetite!). Although my time here is almost over, it is bittersweet. I miss home but I have learned so much about different cultures and cuisines while here and I am so excited to share everything I have learned with you once my adventure is over.
Miso Soup {My Guest Post on Cooking With Michele}
Another exciting update on my job at Morimoto. Last night I worked grill for the first time, it was awesome! I am so excited to be moving up in the kitchen. Things went really smoothly luckily, but I do think that it wouldn’t have been as smooth if I didn’t have another grill cook, Kalani, there to help out. But, you got to start somewhere and I think that I will catch on quick. I didn’t even have anybody send back a steak for being cooked to the wrong temp, score! On the home cooking front, I am happy to announce that I am guest blogging today over at my own mom’s blog, Cooking With Michele. The menu? A flavorful, healthy Chicken Miso Soup. I know you are probably saying, “Miso soup doesn’t have chicken!” but you have to try it, it goes so well with it!
Grilled Eggplant & Bok Choy w/ Korean BBQ Sauce
Where did the summer go? I can’t believe I started school last week, all of three classes… I am taking ceramics for non-majors, photography for non-majors and advertising campaigns; rough I know. Between working and classes, I have hardly had any free time. I wanted to post this recipe before August was over because August is Colorado Proud month and the ingredients in the recipe are all from local organic Colorado Farms. Even more exciting news, my recipes are now being indexed on the Door to Door Organics website! Door to Door Organics is a great program in Colorado that delivers boxes of organic food to your doorstep. Their website then has a recipe collection that will find recipes customized for you, based off your box. It is a really cool idea and helps people eat healthy, locally and organically. They are allowing me to give you a 40% discount off their boxes if you are interested too! Just go to their site and enter “savourthesenses” as the code. The program is offered in Colorado, Kansas City, Chicago and Michigan.
Throwback Thursday: Sesame Chicken Chow Mein
I have finally transfered almost all of my old recipes to my new blog, only one or two more Throwback Thursdays after this one. I am going to start a new weekly theme idea once Throwback Thursdays are over. I would love to hear your input about what you would like to see. I was considering a few things. First, I was thinking about focusing on a different country each week and discussion the traditions, flavors and any other interesting things behind the culture. The other idea I had was to really focus on the senses, since that is what my blog is really about. I was considering zoning in on a different sense description each week and showing how it is represented in certain recipes. For example, I would use the word “tangy” one week and discuss what that really means and give you a recipe that really represents what the word “tangy” means. Please let me know what you think of these ideas and let me know if you have any others that you would like to see!
Throwback Thursday: Wonton Soup
There are a few classic things that I feel like every cook needs to try at some point, even if you just cook at home for fun. Wontons are one of those things. I personally think they are kind of a hassle, but they are a good thing to know how to make and will expand your culinary skills. This week’s throwback recipe is from the first time I ever made wontons, for a wonton soup.
This soup is light and healthy. It is great if you are feeling a bit under the weather or if you simply want a refreshing lunch on a cold day. The fried wontons give the soup a nice crunch if fried properly. I usually struggle with frying things since I don’t have a thermometer and don’t fry things that often. It’s important to fry the wontons at the right temperature or else they will burn (too hot) or get soggy (too cool). Enjoy!
Chili Basil Shrimp w/ Edamame Rice
I recently read an article about edamame and all of its amazing health benefits. If you don’t know much about edamame, it is a green soybean that is a great source of protein, contains all 8 essential amino acids and has no cholesterol of trans-fats. It is high in fiber and iron as well. I’ve like edamame for a while now, but this just makes eating it even better! It is a great addition to many meals and is definitely one to try if you haven’t yet. This dish is simple- marinated shrimp and rice with edamame. When sautéing the shrimp, deglazing the pan adds a ton of flavor that regular sautéing wouldn’t.
