Featured Foodie Friday: Chef Dennis
Have no fear, this Friday the 13th is your lucky day. Why? Because we have an AWESOME guest blogger here today with an amazing recipe for Featured Foodie Friday, Chef Dennis. If you missed it, I guest posted for him a while back with my Potato Gnocchi w/ Jerk Chicken on Green Pea Puree recipe. If you are not already following his blog, you need to. He is full of great advice and wonderful recipes.
As for this cake? For all of you who are stuck in rainy/snowy/cold/cloudy weather or didn’t get the chance to take a vacation this spring break, this cake is your way to indulge and transport yourself here with me in Hawaii. I do have to admit, I had indulged in my first Pina Colada since being here last week and it has me wanting to bake this cake ASAP.

Featured Foodie Friday: SaucyCooks
Do you hate making decisions? I kind of do. This week was filled with some big decision making, I will share more with you when things are more solidified. Either way, it’s weeks like these that make me want to just pack my bags and go, yet again. I don’t want to decide on things, I just want them to happen; unfortunately this is not always how life works, so for now I will hope that I am making the right decisions and that things will figure themselves out in the end. Our guest blogger this Friday is one of the masterminds behind SaucyCooks, Jill, who has also had to make some big decisions. Luckily for us, they involved her starting the SaucyCooks blog. Check out her delicious Chicken Marsala recipe for this week’s Featured Foodie Friday.

Featured Foodie Friday: Cooking With Michele
Today is an exciting Featured Foodie Friday for me; it is my mom! After reading this post it will all make sense. My mom is a world traveler foodie, just like me; where do you think I got it? She worked at IBM for 25 years before deciding to quit and start her own private culinary classes business, Cooking With Michele. Check her out and if you are interested in taking classes or going on her yearly trip to cooking school in Italy let her know, she would love to have you. So there you are, I am proud to introduce my mom, Michele with her Caribbean Curried Lamb recipe this week.

Featured Foodie Friday: Get Fresh With Food
First off, I have to give a HUGE apology to Pragati for not getting this post up earlier! Sometimes our busy lives get in the way of our cyber ones, why can’t we all just be rich bloggers like Pioneer Woman? Haha. Either way, I am so excited to have Pragati from Get Fresh With Food here guest posting today. I love finding new ethnic recipes and her blog is full of them; not to mention I LOVE her photography!

Featured Foodie Friday: A Little Lunch
Happy Friday! For once, I feel like this Friday is a weekend day; it feels great. I have two days off work and finally have a minute to take a breath and relax. I went to lunch with my roommate yesterday at a new restaurant called Jawaiian Irie Jerk Restaurant. It used to be a food truck, and was so popular that they turned it into a restaurant. Pretty cool story; definitely has added a little to my dream of owning a food truck! On another note, this friday we have a great guest blogger from the mainland; please welcome Kimby from A Little Lunch!

Featured Foodie Friday: Go Bake Yourself
I have had a serious sweet tooth lately, I don’t know what it is! I have always been the salt lover, the potato chip snacker, the second appetizer eater but dessert skipper… but now something strange has been happpening. I have been craving sweets all the time! I have recently become addicted to fudge popsicles and have found myself eating up to three in a night. Along with my new sweet addiction I have none other than the Choc Chip Uru from Go Bake Yourself, here with a sinfully sweet coffee, brown butter, dark chocolate chip cookie cake.

Miso Soup {My Guest Post on Cooking With Michele}
Another exciting update on my job at Morimoto. Last night I worked grill for the first time, it was awesome! I am so excited to be moving up in the kitchen. Things went really smoothly luckily, but I do think that it wouldn’t have been as smooth if I didn’t have another grill cook, Kalani, there to help out. But, you got to start somewhere and I think that I will catch on quick. I didn’t even have anybody send back a steak for being cooked to the wrong temp, score! On the home cooking front, I am happy to announce that I am guest blogging today over at my own mom’s blog, Cooking With Michele. The menu? A flavorful, healthy Chicken Miso Soup. I know you are probably saying, “Miso soup doesn’t have chicken!” but you have to try it, it goes so well with it!
Featured Foodie Friday: Oblique Rays
It is Friday, the weekend right?! For me, that doesn’t mean relaxing, far from. It means two crazy nights at work. I have been working mostly nights at Morimoto Waikiki, with the exception of a couple morning shift this week. It amazes me the difference in the type of shift I have when I work a lunch versus a night. Lunch shifts at Morimoto are mostly about setting up and prepping out food. Night shift are about putting out food, and lots of it. I am excited to be working nights after working lunches all fall at SALT, but it is a pretty crazy experience. Morimoto is a high-volume fine dining restaurant, which means go time all the time at night. The good thing is, I am LOVING it! The kitchen at Morimoto runs much more smoothly than my last job, which makes busy nights feel less chaotic. I love the excitement of the kitchen at night, not to mention the fact that time flies by when you are busy. What are your weekend plans? If you have some free time I have just the recipe for you. Rujuta over at Oblique Rays is our featured blogger for today with a delicious recipe for you to make on your days off! I know you are going to love this one. Have a great weekend!
