Steamed Mussels w/ Chickpea Chorizo Butter Broth
Working in a fine dining restaurant has been amazing. In only a month, I have already learned so many things that I never knew before. I have learned how to shuck oysters, how to make an immulsion, seasoning techniques, flavor concepts, how to prepare mussels and much more. After watching all of the mussels that go out to guests at SALT, I really began to crave them. I went home a little bit ago to have dinner with my family and ended up spending the entire day learning about and working on my food photography with my mom (aren’t I lucky to have a mom who can show me that!?).
Broiled Lemon & Garlic Shrimp
I love shrimp, but I feel like it is hard to find new recipes for shrimp so I am usually stuck making the same recipes over and over again. I liked this recipe because it was a bit different, even though it was just another lemon shrimp recipe. Broiling the shrimp gave it a different texture and kept the lemon and garlic flavor really strong. This recipe is quick and easy with great results, definitely one to try.
Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)
I found out about Chicken Makhani a couple of weeks ago and have been dying to make it. I am in love with sauces, so this dish definitely caught my eye. The combination of a flavorful sauce and a little bit of spice made it a favorite in my book. I used a clove of garlic and some ground ginger instead of ginger garlic paste. I also used skim milk instead of half-and-half, like the original recipe (found on Big Oven) called for. My version of the recipe is the healthier option for those of you trying to eat healthy! =)
Butter Poached Lobster & Shrimp w/ Fresh Tomatoes & Basil
For my weekly cooking lesson with my mom, I killed and cooked my first lobster! We decided to make two different recipes with our lobsters. This is the first recipe we made, a very quick and simple way to cook lobster with a ton of flavor.
