Garlic Pulled Pork
This is the first of a few re-posts from my previous blog. I thought that it would be a good idea to post a couple of my favorite recipes from the past six months to kick-start my new location. Hope you can find something you may have missed before!
My friend originally found this recipe on Mark’s Daily Apple. It is an affordable recipe if you ever need to feed a large group!
Garlic Pulled Pork
Serves 6
- 1 (4 lb) pork shoulder cut (butt or picnic)
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 6 fresh garlic cloves
- 1 lime
- 1 onion
- 1 bay leaf
Directions
- Mix salt, cumin, pepper, and garlic powder and spread over pork shoulder.
- Cut slits in pork and secure garlic cloves inside.
- Place pork in slow cooker with sliced onions and bay leaf (or in oven at 250F) and juice lime over the top.
- Cook on high (in slow cooker) or in oven at 250F (in oven) for 4 hours.
- Use forks to shred pork and remove bone and season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Let the meat cook for 20 additional minutes in juices and serve atop a hamburger bun.
